OnlineBMWparts.nl, part of Hedin Automotive following the acquisition of Dubbelsteyn, is the online store for BMW enthusiasts throughout the Netherlands. With a wide range of parts, accessories, and exclusive merchandise, the webshop offers a quick and easy way for customers to find everything they need for their BMW, with the quality and service that Hedin Automotive provides.
After its acquisition by Hedin Automotive, OnlineBMWparts.nl recognized the market need for an online store where individuals could purchase individual parts and accessories for their BMWs. To meet this demand, a user-friendly online store was developed, featuring a clear search and filter function, a personalized profile page, and the option to tailor products to the customer's specific BMW model. To provide up-to-date information and products, a link was established with the ETK database, which contains all BMW products, types, and models.
For the development of most applications, we use the Symfony Framework, an open-source PHP framework based on open protocols and standards. For OnlineBMWparts.nl, we chose Sylius, a comprehensive webshop software built on Symfony. Sylius offers the flexibility to use only the necessary parts, and although the focus is currently on the Dutch market, the system can easily be expanded to other countries. The biggest challenge was the connection with the ETK database, which was more difficult to access than expected. Thanks to the integration of Sylius with the ETK database, the system knows exactly which products should be displayed. In combination with ElasticSearch, we developed a lightning-fast search function that delivers the right results immediately to the customer.
With an online store catering to so many needs, it's crucial that the ordering process feels simple and intuitive for customers. From the moment a customer enters the webshop, they need to be guided correctly. This starts with a clear and logical design that simplifies the entire ordering process. The ability to filter by model provides a quick and efficient overview of the right parts and accessories. The thoughtful use of color guides the customer smoothly through the process, from entering the store to finding the right product. Every click has a purpose, and the texts support the customer every step of the way. The result is a user-friendly webshop where customers can find everything they need for their BMW at OnlineBMWparts.nl.
