Where the story begins

OnlineBMWParts.nl is the leading webshop for BMW enthusiasts in the Netherlands, part of Hedin Automotive after its acquisition of Dubbelsteyn. BMW drivers find original parts, accessories and lifestyle products there for maintenance and personalisation, backed by Hedin's service and reputation. As demand for online convenience grew, Hedin wanted a webshop that fits the BMW brand.

A complex BMW parts database that was hard to search

After the acquisition, Hedin wanted a modern webshop where customers could easily find and order individual BMW parts and accessories. The challenge was the catalogue: technically complex, and it had to stay accurate and up to date at all times. Customers wanted to see exactly the parts that fit their own BMW model. For that, the webshop had to connect directly to BMW's official ETK database, which holds every product, model and type.

The BMW catalogue linked and searchable with ElasticSearch

We built the webshop on the Symfony framework, a stable and flexible base. The platform is scalable, so it can expand to other markets later. By linking the webshop to BMW's ETK database, all product data stays accurate and up to date automatically. And with ElasticSearch, the search returns instant, precise results, even in a catalogue this size.
