Dutch Resistance Museum preserves and shares the history of dictatorship, war, persecution and resistance in the Netherlands and its former colonies during the Second World War. By placing those stories in a wider perspective, including anti-colonial resistance, the museum builds a bridge between past and present. And it does so through vivid, personal stories.

With attention to reflection and dialogue, the museum shows why tolerance, freedom and responsibility still matter today. A reliable, accessible digital place is part of that mission.

A museum platform due for a Symfony upgrade

The Dutch Resistance Museum's platform ran on an older version of Symfony. It worked, but it lagged on speed and security, and kept pace less and less easily with the growing number of online visitors. As more people visited the site at the same time, the older foundation came under strain. To keep up with new digital plans, the technology beneath it was due for a thorough update.

Symfony upgraded and the software architecture renewed

Together with the Dutch Resistance Museum we carried out a thorough upgrade to the latest version of Symfony. It forms the technical backbone of a stable and secure platform. By modernising the software architecture, loading times became shorter and the site more reliable, even at busy moments. The work happened in the background, so visitors could keep using the site as normal. That lets the museum make full use of modern technology, while the focus stays where it belongs: on telling stories and supporting education.

The Dutch Resistance Museum's renewed environment is faster, easier to use and better secured. Visitors find the stories they're looking for more quickly, and the museum can build on it with confidence.
