Where the story begins

Doco designs and makes components for garage doors, for both industrial and residential use. Partners and customers rely on accurate configurations to put together the right door for each situation. With a broad and ever-growing range, configuration sits at the heart of Doco's daily work.

To keep that on track, Doco worked internally from a shared overview of product options and configuration rules. A collaboration with us that took shape back in 2009.

Configuration rules that outgrew the spreadsheets

The more Doco grew, the more complex the product configurations became. New product lines brought new options, and every option brought new rules with it. Those rules stacked up, and the shared overview in spreadsheets grew harder to manage. With a small range, an overview like that works fine. With a large and growing one, it takes more and more effort to keep everything correct and up to date. Doco needed more oversight and control, and a foundation that could grow with them without giving up precision.

A scalable configuration platform for every product line

Together with Doco we built a scalable configuration platform, step by step. It started with an industrial configurator and grew into variants for residential use and for sister companies. Each step built on the one before, and where it was needed, we rebuilt the setup along the way. That kept the platform growing with new requirements and developments, rather than always running to catch up with them.
