Where the story begins

706 Seating Group designs and makes ergonomic office chairs known for their quality and craft. The chairs are sold through dealers, who help customers find the right chair for each workspace. To support those dealers better, 706 wanted a place where they could view products and order them directly.

A catalogue with no ordering, disconnected from SAP

706's old website was mainly a catalogue. Dealers could view products, but couldn't order there and then. And because the site wasn't connected to SAP, their ERP system, the team had to update stock and prices by hand. Every price change or stock adjustment had to be copied over separately, which was error-prone and took time. Orders still came in by phone and email, which gave the sales team extra work and left dealers waiting.

A webshop linked to SAP, with ordering for dealers

We built a modern webshop that combines the catalogue with direct ordering. It's tightly connected to SAP and synchronises product data, stock and prices automatically, so a lot of manual work falls away. Whatever changes in SAP shows up correctly in the webshop right away. Dealers now view demo chairs, configure them and place orders in one place, whenever it suits them. By staying in close contact with 706 and their SAP partner, development stayed on track.

Fully automated orders and dropshipping through the webshop

Since launch, the platform saves 706 time, because straightforward orders run automatically and no longer have to pass through the sales team. Later, a returns system was added, handling warranty requests more quickly. When demand for office chairs rose during the pandemic, 706 could deliver directly to customers through dropshipping, right when it was needed. The platform still keeps growing and supports both dealers and the company's own teams.
